Job Description:

  1. Interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to fabricate and assemble truck components, including frames, bodies, cabs, and accessories.
  2. Measure and cut metal materials using cutting torches, plasma cutters, and other cutting equipment, ensuring accuracy and precision.
  3. Weld metal components together using various welding techniques, such as MIG, TIG, and stick welding, to create strong and durable joints.
  4. Perform grinding, sanding, and finishing operations to smooth welds and remove sharp edges, ensuring a clean and professional appearance.
  5. Align and fit metal components using jigs, fixtures, and alignment tools, ensuring proper fitment and alignment according to specifications.
  6. Inspect fabricated components for defects, imperfections, or inconsistencies, and perform corrective actions or rework as needed to meet quality standards.
  7. Collaborate with engineers, designers, and other team members to troubleshoot issues, propose design modifications, and optimize fabrication processes.
  8. Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents, injuries, and occupational hazards, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  9. Maintain a clean and organized work area, including tools, equipment, and materials, to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
  10. Keep accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time spent on projects, and report any issues or concerns to supervisors or project managers.

Qualifications:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certification in welding or metal fabrication is preferred.
  2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in welding and metal fabrication, preferably in a manufacturing or automotive environment.
  3. Proficiency in various welding techniques, including MIG, TIG, and stick welding, with the ability to weld steel, aluminum, and other metals.
  4. Experience in blueprint reading, layout, and interpretation, with the ability to follow engineering drawings and specifications.
  5. Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot issues and make adjustments as needed.
  6. Familiarity with metalworking tools and equipment, such as grinders, saws, drills, and hydraulic presses.
  7. Good communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  8. Attention to detail and quality, with a focus on producing accurate, precise, and high-quality workmanship.
  9. Physical stamina and endurance to perform welding and fabrication tasks for extended periods, including lifting and carrying heavy materials and equipment.
  10. Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies, processes, and techniques in the field of welding and metal fabrication.
