The Supervisory Engineer is responsible for leading, supervising, and coordinating a team
of Heavy Equipment Technicians. This role ensures that the maintenance, repairs, and
inspections of heavy machinery (such as bulldozers, excavators, articulated dump trucks,
wheel loaders, highway trucks, and crawler cranes) are carried out efficiently, safely, and in
accordance with company and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
• Supervise, coordinate, and motivate a team of Heavy Equipment Technicians.
• Plan, schedule, and assign work to meet repair and maintenance goals.
• Monitor quality, safety, and efficiency of completed work.
• Support technicians in complex diagnostics and technical challenges.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and operational standards.
• Manage spare parts inventory, workshop logistics, and procurement.
• Report on performance, issues, and improvements to senior management.
• Train, coach, and mentor technicians to strengthen technical expertise and
performance.
Qualifications & Skills
• Proven experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic/Technician, with several years in
a supervisory role.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, transmissions, and electrical systems.
• Skilled in using diagnostic tools and maintenance management systems.
• Strong leadership and organizational abilities.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and ensure team performance under tight deadlines.
Education Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Heavy
Equipment Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Alternative: A relevant Technical Diploma combined with substantial work
experience in heavy equipment maintenance and proven leadership capabilities.
• Additional certifications (e.g., hydraulics, diesel engine repair, health & safety
management) are considered an asset.
